- Eliminates storage downtime with nondisruptive movement of data from one type of storage to another
- Remote copies, with systems in two sites at a metro distance, can be linked with synchronous replication providing zero RPO (recovery point objective), to ensure no data loss. If the target datacentre is at longer, global distances, or perhaps if the target is in the cloud, data copies can be asynchronously replicated minimizing application performance impact, with RPO being dependant on distance and bandwidth between locations.
- Where the two sites are within the same impact zone, placing a third site outside of any potential disaster zone, ensures recoverability. IBM offers flexible 3-site configurations with automated, policy based dataflows that combine local synchronous replication with remote asynchronous replication, without complexity.
