IBM Spectrum Protect 8.1.9 and SPP 10.1.5 : Cloud , Cyber Security and Data Compliance Features

IBM Spectrum Protect Plus uses the Container Storage Interface (CSI) to initiate and persist snapshots for Kubernetes Persistent Volume Claims (PVC) by using Ceph block storage. An application developer uses the native Kubernetes command line (kubectl) to perform this function in a self-service manner and can create Kubernetes-aware backup scheduling automation. The back up Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in IBM Spectrum Protect Plus provide control for scheduling, snapshot retention, and copy to vSnap
IBM Spectrum Protect Plus provides backup and recovery for Microsoft Exchange Online and Microsoft OneDrive. It drives operational efficiency and helps ensure compliance by managing and retaining mailboxes, calendars, contacts, and shared folders as part of an overall data protection solution.
This functionality in IBM Spectrum Protect simplifies the process of meeting compliancy requirements by enabling clients to place one or more retention holds on data in a retention set for a set period of time.
IBM Spectrum Protect now enables clients to put extra protection and data reuse on their data by requiring dual authorization to prevent data from being deleted inadvertently or intentionally by an unauthorized or rogue administrator.
IBM Spectrum Protect Plus deployment in VMware Cloud on Amazon Web Service (AWS) provides lifecycle management and data protection for clients' virtual machines that run in VMware Cloud on AWS
IBM Spectrum Protect Plus leverages incremental-forever backup technology to streamline offloads of all backups (including VMs and databases) from vSnap to IBM Spectrum Protect, eliminating the dependency on IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environments. This delivers a unified data protection policy, all managed by the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus service level agreements (SLAs).
IBM Spectrum Protect Plus offers additional protection by enabling offload of backups (including VMs and databases) from the vSnap server to on-premises object storage or to public cloud-based storage for long-term data protection and disaster recovery. IBM Cloud Object Storage, IBM Cloud Object Storage System, Amazon Web Services S3, and Microsoft Azure Blob are supported. Retention setting for WORM-policy enabled IBM Cloud Object Storage and IBM Cloud Object Storage System is also supported.

Once the data copy has been made, for any and all use cases, the data recovery / reuse data workflow is the same.  If data needs to be recovered – it is put back to the system which it came from.  Should the data be required for any of the data reuse options, the methodology is the exact same, it is just recovered in a different environment, just as easy and just as fast.
